In 2012, it was difficult to think of a world where 2 Chainz (formerly Tity Boi) would ever be slept on again. Yet here we are five years later and experiencing a shift to more youth-driven musical acts, but the Atlanta rapper has stayed resilient. His music’s quality hasn’t wavered despite anticipation that it would not be what it once was.
Last year, 2 Chainz dropped a trifecta of projects, including Felt Like Cappin, Daniel Son; Necklace Don and Hibachi for Lunch. Recent singles, “Good Drank” featuring Gucci Mane and Quavo, and “It’s A Vibe” with Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz and Jhené Aiko, both appear on his upcoming album Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, in stores June 16.
Tuesday (May 30)’s DX Digest highlights the latest snippet of the project “4 AM” with Travis Scott, as well as Teyana Taylor and Migos’ racy video for “Dripping.”

Teyana Taylor f. Migos – “Dripping”

NSFW alert! Songstress Teyana Taylor coats herself in fluorescent body paint in “Dripping,” which also features Migos. Her lyrics are unabashedly raunchy and the steamy scenes are bound to make viewers forget that the Atlanta trio is even there. But most importantly, the song is pretty damn good. Hopefully, she’ll be able to follow up her criminally underrated 2014 LP, VII, with something greater.
StyleS P – “Hold The Ghost”
If we equate rap to basketball, some of Styles P’s most efficient shots are on soulful production. Here, he jacks some beats (respectfully, of course) from Smoke DZA and Pete Rock’s “Hold The Drums.”

Ne-Yo – “ANother Love Song”
Singer-songwriter Ne-Yo celebrated Memorial Day by offering “Another Love Song” – the third song in a trio that includes “Earn Your Love” and “More Than I Should” featuring Candice and RaVaughn. This uptempo groove will have you and your significant other dancing on the living room floor regardless of who’s watching.

Dumbfoundead f. Chancellor – “History of Violence”
Los Angeles rapper Dumfounded continues to push his Foreigner EP with a thought provoking lyric video for “History of Violence.” The narrative here has little to with the similarly titled 2005 film starring Viggo Mortensen, and everything to do with the injustices we see happening on American soil at the hands of those entrusted to protect its citizens.
