Rolling Loud survived the vote by Miami’s Bayfront Park Management Trust and will go on as planned, according to the Miami Herald. The paper reports that the board voted unanimously Tuesday (April 11) in favor of a use agreement for the three-day festival after Miami Commissioner Frank Carollo called for the meeting. He said that local officials didn’t seek the Trust’s approval when agreeing to the festival and questioned if they would give it a go, given the size and impact of the event.
“I feel like I got acquitted for a crime, and I know I didn’t do anything wrong,” Tariq Cherif, co-founder of Dope Ent, the company putting on Rolling Loud, said. “It’s crazy. We should have never had to go through this.”
Festival organizers celebrated the victory on Twitter with a Periscope video.
Kendrick Lamar, Future and Lil Wayne are all headlining what might be the best Hip Hop festival in 10 years.
