Ice Cube is back
in the rap game, and in a major way. After taking time off to do movies and TV,
Cube’s latest solo effort, Laugh Now, Cry Later debuted in this
week’s Top 200 sales chart at number four, and Hip Hop/R & B charts at number
two. The album sold 145,000 units in its first week – one of the highest
first-week sales totals of any independent hip-hop artist release. Laugh contains a supporting casts of the
game’s finest from across the map including Swizz Beatz, Scott Storch, Snoop Dogg and Lil Jon.
In other sales news, Diddy’s
newest find, Yung Joc, took the top
spot on the Hip Hop/R&B charts this week. Fueled by a catchy single and a
dance that even Tom Cruise can do, Joc also landed the three spot on the
Billboard 200.
No charges will be filed against Lil Eazy E stemming from his recent arrest for possession of a fire
arm. As DX previously reported, E was cuffed up this past weekend after
a gun was found in his vehicle. Prosecutors will not file charges due to lack
of evidence in the case.
