Def Jam artist, Foxy Brown, is headed to court over an August 2004 assault charge in which she allegedly attacked two nail salon workers after a manicure payment dispute.

Brown, born Inga Marchand, was charged by Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Gerald Harris. Brown is charged with misdemeanor assault for kicking one worker and hitting another in the face.

Judge Harris set a hearing and trial date for July 17. After a December court appearance, she was expected to plead guilty to the misdemeanor but the proceedings were cancelled when Judge Melissa Jackson accused Brown of making faces at her during the court session.

Jackson told Brown’s lawyer, Joseph Fleming, “I don’t like her attitude.”

Brown made a surprise move late last year when she fired her then attorney, Joseph Tacopina, for his handling in an announcement that stated the rapper was almost completely deaf.

Another altercation occurred when Brown was handcuffed at the December hearing. Brown repeatedly yelled at a female officer that her “bling” was in the way of the cuffs and again allegedly hit the officer.

Jackson said Brown could either apologize or serve up to 30 days in jail. Brown did so, but did not enter a plea. Assistant District Attorney Gary Galperin has said Brown’s statement wasn’t legal and believed that she had not accepted enough blame for the nail salon incident.
