Omarion’s multi-Platinum song “Post To Be” is one of the MMG artist’s most successful singles to date but the catchy hit found itself in some legal trouble when news surfaced that O and the song’s producer, DJ Mustard, were being sued over reportedly stealing the song from Chris Brown’s 2014 single “Came To Do.”
According to the Jasmine Brand, legal documents revealed hit producer Jon Redwine (f.k.a. Redwine) assigned 50 percent of the rights to Chris Brown’s 2014 hit, “Came to Do” featuring Akon to BMG.
Now, the mega publishing group wants their coins from the track to the tune of $300,000 in damages. The suit names Atlantic Records as a defendant and they reportedly pushed an injunction so that Omarion wouldn’t be able to profit off the Billboard Hot 100 hit any longer.
When asked about the lawsuit during an interview on DX Live Thursday (November 17), King O replied with puzzlement and said he’s unaware of any lawsuit going on.

“No one has been served that I know,” O tells DX exclusively. “If it’s a producer issue, it’s definitely with them [Nic Nac and DJ Mustard]. It doesn’t have anything to do with Omarion or Chris Brown. I just seen Chris. It be funny to me because it’s like, ‘Okay, yeah, y’all got it.’ That’s it. I just want to let everybody know that, that’s fake. Nobody got served, nobody ain’t tripping.”
Between 2014 and 2015, “Post To Be” peaked at #1 on the US Rhythmic chart and stayed on Billboard’s Top 40 while selling millions of copies. Jhene’s now pop-cultured “eat the booty like groceries” lyric might’ve helped as well.
As long time friends, O reassures us that he and Breezy are still cool, as well as Nic Nac and DJ Mustard. No lawsuit here.
“It’s weird,” he continues. “When you’re up strange things start happening. We just want to make good music and stay out the way.”
