Never underestimate anyone who calls themselves the “Meyer-Lansky” of hip-hop. Dr. Dre protégé, Scott Storch has decided to launch his very own record label. After being snubbed at the Grammys for Producer of the Year, Storch has channeled the ghost of Tupac and writer of The Prince; Niccolo Machiavelli, by finally settling on the name Storchaveli.

While still in talks with several major labels for distribution, Storch says he will cover the full gambit of music, including pop, hip-hop and rock. Most recently, he’s produced tracks for Chamillionaire and Paris Hilton and his first act is set to be Hulk Hogan’s daughter, Brooke Hogan, made some-what famous on Hogan Knows Best

Chappelle’s Third Season Wraps

The third season of Chappelle’s Show has finished production and is wrapping this week. Regulars Charlie Murphy and Donnell Rawlings were there and co-creator Neal Brennan was also in attendance but Dave Chappelle was still nowhere to be found. After numerous interviews and most recently in Esquire, Chappelle has repeatedly made remarks about returning to the show if material for the third season was scrapped.

Regardless, Doug Herzog, President of Comedy Central seems to be moving ahead with the show.

Chappelle left the show somewhat mysteriously after inking a $50 million-dollar deal with the network. He explained in Esquire that there were other reasons behind leaving the show, “The bottom line was, white people own everything, and where can a black person go and be himself or say something that’s familiar to him and not have to explain or apologize.” Whether he was referring to his home state of Ohio or his stint in a mental hospital in Africa as his escape, Chappelle was obviously under an immense amount of treasure at the time of his departure.

Chapelle’s most recent endeavor, Dave Chappelle’s Block Party, the documentary filmed by acclaimed music-video director Michael Gondry enjoyed much success and included performances with The Fugees, The Roots, dead prez and Kanye West.
