Yesterday, the Hip Hop world was rocked by the death of Proof of D-12. Today, details surrounding the shooting begun to surface and it looks as though the rapper may have provoked the altercation.
Yahoo reports that Proof, born Deshaun Holton was the instigator in the shooting that took his life and left another man in critical condition.
The altercation took place at Detroit’s CCC Nightclub around 4:30 a.m. yesterday. Reports also say that the bar was illegally open. Proof and the other injured man, 35-year-old Keith Bender got into a heated argument that escalated.
Proof is said to have knocked Bender to the ground and is also said to have fired the first shot, before being shot four times by another bouncer at the club. Proof was struck four times, twice in the head and twice in the chest.

Early reports stated that the emcee was hit once in the head.
XXL reports that according to family members, Bender was at the club celebrating and not working, as some previously thought.
