TI has gotten a lot of press lately on the heels of his new album (King) and movie (ATL), but all press may not be good press.
General Growth, a company that owns movie theaters in the Atlanta area issued a memo telling it’s theaters to beef up security in response to the ATL being released. The memo, which was obtained by Atlanta area press last Friday stated that ”the movie could cause behavior problems among customers.”
The memo went on to cite themes included in the movie for the added concern.
”The movie trailer indicates that themes in the movie include moral choices and narcotics trafficking … Please appropriately prepare your security staffs for the release of this movie.”

Greg Alexander, owner of Cascade Family Skating dismisses the memo. Portions of the movie were shot there, and Alexander says he wouldn’t allow his venue to be used if he believed the film would have a negative effect.
“I don’t care how much money someone threw at me, if a film affected my business in a negative way, it would not be shot here”, he said.
He went on to say that while he doesn’t believe the film is negative, he understands why some may get the wrong idea.
“Just going by the trailer, maybe someone who is uninformed about certain things might get the wrong idea. They use a lot of the music that the kids like and they show some gold teeth. Maybe someone saw all that, misunderstood and got a little nervous.”
ATL has been dubbed as a coming of age story that ”celebrates the vibrant culture of the South, particularly the music and energy that emanates from Atlanta,” according to Warner Bros.
The movie hits theaters this Friday.
