No Limit rapper C-Murder was convicted of shooting and killing 16-year-old Steve Thomas outside the Platinum Club in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana in January 2002. Master P’s little brother faced a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.

During his two years in prison C-Murder has maintained his innocence and now it seems to be paying off. On Friday, March 10 a Louisiana Supreme Court overturned his murder conviction and he could be released today on bond.

Last month, Murder’s lawyer filed a request for a new trial with the Louisiana Supreme Court. The court reinstated State District Judge Martha Sassone’s decision from last year decision, saying her ruling “reflects a painstaking review of the evidence.” Prosecution now has to decide on whether or not they will retry the case.
