DMX is returning to the silver screen for a role in an independent film called Pimp, according to Deadline.
The filmmakers take pride on their emphasis on telling the stories of women. The script follows a pimp, played by Keke Palmer, and her girlfriend, portrayed by Haley Ramm, as they navigate the streets of New York seeking a better life for themselves.
“This movie is quite unique,” producer Alexis Varouxakis says. “The writer-director is a woman [Christine Crokos]. All the lead characters are women and at its core it is a love story, but it takes place in a harsh world where women have to hustle to survive. We have never seen a woman pimp before with a girlfriend.”
Pimp is currently being filmed on location in the Bronx. The movie is working closely with a member of the community who is trying to help kids get out of the dangers of gun violence.
