He came for an autograph and got a few punches instead. 37-year-old Melvin Smith claims the Long Island emcee and his bodyguard Troy Green beat him down with their “hands and fists for no rhyme or reason” when he sought out Busta for an autograph.

The alleged incident took place at a deli near New York’s City Hall some six months ago. According to the lawsuit filed with the Manhattan Supreme Court, Smith has been unable to work as a handyman because of neck and back injuries he suffered during the beatdown.

He also says he needed four stitches.

“My client was not aggressive in seeking the autograph,”Smith’s lawyer said. “Melvin went in to get an autograph and got a knuckle sandwich instead.” The damages in the suit have not been specified.
