It may be a different situation than Jay was in when he landed Roc-A-Fella a joint venture deal with Def Jam, but he is returning the favor in a manor of speaking.
Jigga has inked Miami-based Slip-N-Slide Records to a multi-album, multi-million dollar deal.
Unlike The Roc a decade ago, Slip-N-Slide has been established for a minute now. Ted “Touche” Lucas started the label in 1993 and has sold some eight million units since.
Most of those albums have come courtesy of Trick Daddy and Trina, both of whom are signed to Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic and will remain there.

For now, newcomers Rick Ross and Citty will spearhead the movement as they build new talent.
“We met with every major label head across the country, but the level of respect that Def Jam showed for Slip-N-Slide was priceless,” said Ted Lucas. “Jay-Z saw Slip-N-Slide’s vision and was willing to do everything in his power to make that vision a reality.”
