Gainseville, Florida

The video for Gainesville rapper Shay Baby’s “Cold Outchea” was uploaded to YouTube on April 30. Days later, he was shot to death because of it, reports The Gainseville Sun.

In the song, Shay Baby, born Rashay Garrison, raps about the harsh realities of living in the hood and tells stories of snitches and criminals. Police say that the content offended Ishmael Daniels so much that he gunned down the rapper.

According to a police report, Daniels pulled up alongside Garrison’s car early in the morning on May 2, pointed a high-powered rifle out of the open passenger window and fired more than 10 times. He hit Garrison with multiple shots, killing him, and struck a passenger in Garrison’s car, who managed to escape with minor injuries.

“It’s a very sad state in our country where feelings getting hurt over a rap video results to the shooting of another human being by someone. I just can’t comprehend why that has to happen,” Gainseville Police spokesman Ben Tobias told CBS4 News.

Daniels has been arrested and charged with Garrison’s murder, as well as the attempted murder of the person in Garrison’s car, and for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bail is set at $1 million.
