Mississauga, ON

Just days after releasing a new video on YouTube, rapper Sizzlac was shot to death in a Mississauga townhouse complex, outside of Toronto on April 23, according to the Mississauga News.

Peel Regional Police identified the victim as Mustafa Omar on April 25, but several Twitter users had already broken the news of the 29-year-old Toronto MC’s death before that.

Three other men were shot in the incident and treated at the hospital for non life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The description for his “Realest In The 6” video explains that Sizzlac was “straight outta one of the most notorious blocks in Toronto, Jamestown Rexdale to be exact.” The video shows him in several well-known spots around the city and his neighborhood.

In 2009, Omar was charged with two counts of second-degree murder for a shooting at a house party in Toronto, reports the Brampton Guardian. He wasn’t convicted of either charge, with a judge discharging one count, and the Crown withdrawing the other. Instead, he served six months in jail for aggravated assault for the incident, reports the Mississauga News.
