Ever since he dropped Soul on Ice, left coast emcee Ras Kass has been one of the western region’s premiere lyricists. With a fresh start for 06, Ras is prepping the release of the second installment of Institutionalized, a collaborative effort with west coast DJ Dow Jones.

Although he’s seen limited commercial success, the album’s guest list shows that Kass has gained the respect from emcees around the country. Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Kool G Rap, Royce 59, Strong Arm Steady, Talib Kweli, Alchemist, Da Ranjahz and O.D.B. (RIP) are all slated to appear on the album.

Fans who feel that Ras suffers from production set backs need not worry with the new release. Industry heavy weights Dr. Dre, Just Blaze, Jake One, 9th Wonder, J Gambit and Da Riffs are behind the boards.

For those unfamiliar with Ras Kass, he hit the scene in 1996 with the critically acclaimed Soul on Ice, which featured the much talked about Nature of the Threat. The track was over seven minutes and went into detail about race relations between whites and blacks.
