Rapper TI is practicing what he preaches. The ATL emcee, who told others to ”get on their jobs” in Motivation is getting his grind on. His Grand Hustle imprint has announced the signing of DJ Drama.
Drama is best known for his popular mix tape series Gangsta Grillz. In 2005 alone, 16 editions of the mix tape were released.
“To be able to get a major record deal from pushing mix tapes in the streets is a great feeling for me as a DJ,” said DJ Drama. “I did it my way, and I am being rewarded greatly for that.”
Grand Hustle’s CEO, Jason Geter, looks forward to building with Drama in the new year.
“We are excited to finally be in business with DJ Drama and the Aphilliates Music Group,” he says, of the partnership. “Throughout the years, we’ve worked hand in hand to build our brands. In 2006, we look forward to making history together.”
If fans don’t recognize the mix tapes, they could’ve also caught drama assisting TI on two tours in 2004 and 2005, the star studded Jay Z and Friends tour and Nelly’s Sweat/Suit tour.
