Damon Dash has had his share of ups and downs in 2005. After losing the Roc-a-Fella name to former partner and friend, Jay Z, Dash bounced back with BET’sThe Ultimate Hustler. Now it appears that Dash is under fire again and this time, from an unlikely source.
The Women Film Critics Circle, an association of women film critics involved in print, radio, online and television media grew two extra hands recently to give Dash’sState Property 2 film four thumbs down.
The WFCC’s annual awards blasted Dash with a second place finish for “most offensive character”, behind Nicolas Cage in Lord of War. State Property 2 also earned a third place finish in WFCC’s “hall of shame” behind Domino and Don’t Move.
Other award winners included Ruby Dee (Lifetime Achievement Award), Paula Jai Parker (Hustle and Flow) and Lynn Whitfield (Acting and Activism for Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story).
