It’s been several days since Stanley “Tookie” Williams was executed in the state of California and tensions are still running high. Activist in the Southern California area are shining the spotlight on radio jocks, who they say participated in race baiting.

As was reported previously on DX, John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou of the John and Ken Show of AM 640 KFI launched the Kill Tookie/Tookie Must Die hour last month.

During this time, KFI purposely followed around Black community activists, religious and civil rights leaders who were in support of clemency for Williams, with the sole intention of using their comments out of context and verbally abusing them on air for the entertainment of their listeners.

When questioned on the issue, the pair of shock jocks denied that race was a factor in the campaign, but several members of the Los Angeles community question their motives.

The Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable’s Earl Ofari Hutchinson and Jasmyne Cannick wonder if John and Ken will treat white inmates on death row in the same manner.

“Can we expect to see John and Ken at San Quentin on January 16 broadcasting live again? While we strongly oppose the death penalty, the deafening silence of John and Ken on Allen strongly suggest their racial double standard for executions.”

Clarence Ray Allen, an elderly white inmate is the next scheduled execution at San Quentin.

John and Ken have also hinted at a similar hour, this time dedicating it to Mumia Abu Jamal.
