50 Cent has been all over the world, but if lawmakers in Canada have their way, Fif won’t be able to cross the border.

Junior Foreign Minister Dan McTeague wants the Canadian government to ban the rapper from touring Canada. McTeague cites a rise in shooting deaths in Toronto and says he feels 50’s message is inappropriate at the current time.

For all of you in the states, this may sound strange and maybe even unconstitutional. However, in Canada, banning 50 Cent may not be impossible.

According to an article from Reuters, Canadian law dictates that anyone with a criminal record needs a special permit from the office of Immigration Minister Joe Volpe to enter the country. McTeague has written to Volpe urging him not to grant the permit.

“I do want the laws of Canada to apply to anybody who is a criminal, an admitted criminal, as Mr Curtis Jackson — known as 50 Cent — is. Under our laws … he would be deemed criminally inadmissible,”McTeague told CBC television.

Toronto has experienced a rise in gun violence, with 49 deaths reported this year. Many of the victims are young black males.

The exact status of 50 Cent’s criminal record is unclear and his representatives have declined to comment.

If McTeague is unable to rally the legislator, Fif will begin his Canadian tour next month.
