A$AP Ferg recently held an event at Art Basel in honor of the late A$AP Yams and to premiere his collaboration with adidas Skateboarding.
Recently sitting down with HipHopDX Senior Features Writer Ural Garrett, the Harlem native reflected on the life of his friend and says he’s still alive in spirit.
“It might sound weird but I don’t look at Yams like he’s gone,” he said via a segment of today’s (December 14) DX Daily. “He’s very much still alive to me like he’s still working. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t even be where I’m at so I think he’s still working.”
A$AP Ferg also says Yams was planning on developing new artists and laid off of A$AP Mob after they saw mega success.

“He came in the way he did,” he explained. “He’s really the tatted angel. I feel like God brought him here to complete a mission because really like Yams fell back after we made it. He was like, ‘Yo, Y’all niggas is good.’ He started working on different projects and started trying to develop new artists like Cutthroat, Aston Matthews and Joey Fatts and working with Tan Boys and stuff.”
