The Roots, hip hop’s hardest working band brought their show to the House of Blues in Las Vegas last Sunday. For nearly two hours, Black Thought, ?uest Love and company presented the art of emceeing and instrumentation to a packed house. In addition to running through old hits like ”The Next Movement” and ”Don’t Say Nothin”, fans were also treated to a surprise appearance by Virginia emcee Skillz. If that wasn’t enough, each member of the band entertained the crowd with solos. Hats off to Illadelph’s finest, continue to show ‘em how to do this.

The Diplomats are back and this time they’re taking the show overseas. ”From Paris to Purple City” features Dip Set regulars Shiest Bub “The Emperor”, Un Kasa and Agallah “The Don Bishop” matched with eight French emcees, dubbed The Baryo Gang. Jim Jones and Hell Rell also appear on the album. The album hits record store shelves November 8. For more information, visit www.purplecity.com.

Juvenile graces the cover of this month’s XXL magazine. The former Cash Money Millionaire touches on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and his plans to help rebuild N’awlins. David Banner, The Clipse and D4L (I’m still trying to get that damn ”Laffy Taffy” song out of my head) are also featured.
