Billboardrecently released their “10 Greatest Rappers Of All Time” list and also their “10 Greatest Hip Hop Beats Of All Time” to much praise and scrutiny.

A few members of the HipHopDX team sat down together to discuss the latter list and what they agreed with and disagreed with.

News Editor Soren Baker explained why he believes Nas’ “New York State of Mind” is the best beat he has rapped on and why it’s OK for it to be #2 on the list.

“‘New York State of Mind,’ that’s probably my favorite Nas song,” he said via a segment of today’s (November 18) DX Daily. “I think it’s phenomenal on every level from the lyrics to the–even though it’s the second track, the first full track–the second song on Illmatic, I think it’s a great introduction and I think that, obviously [DJ] Premier is one of the best, if not the best producers in rap history.”

Features Editor Andre Grant weighed in on what he believed was a “glaring omission” from Billboard’s list.

“There is one glaring omission on this list that I will never understand as long as I live and that is [OutKast’s] ‘B.O.B. (Bomb’s Over Baghdad),'” he said emphatically. “What? No ‘Bomb’s Over Baghdad?’ Y’all just forgot?”
