If you think you’ve gotten the scoop on NYC from the mix tapes, think again. Activision is set to release True Crime: New York City November 18.
In the latest installment, players will take on the role of former gang member turned cop Marcus Reed as they fight crime on the GPS-accurate streets of Manhattan. Don’t get it twisted, players will face the real streets of New York, complete with subways, landmarks and neighborhoods. Players will help Marcusl navigate the city the way native New Yorkers do: by taking cabs, riding subways, walking and driving cars and motorcycles.
In addition to accurate city settings, True Crime will also contain the sites and sounds of New York. Gamers will find tourists near Time’s Square and a variety of locals near the brownstones in Harlem.
True Crime also contains a cast made up of industry veterans. Christopher Walken plays FBI field agent Gabriel Whitting; Laurence Fishburne as drug kingpin Isaiah “The King” Reed; Mariska Hargitay as New York Police Lieutenant Deena Dixon; Mickey Rourke as New York Police Detective Terrence Higgins; Esai Morales as New York Police Organized Crime Unit chief Victor Navarro; Traci Lords as madam Cassandra Hartz; and up and coming actor Avery Waddell as former gangster turned cop Marcus Reed, the game’s main character and Isaiah Reed’s son.

Will Kassoy, vice president of global brand management, Activision Publishing compares the game to a movie or television show.
“With a voice talent roster of this caliber, we are bringing drama to videogames on an unprecedented level that is on par with movies and television shows,” he says. “True Crime: New York City was developed with the help of two former New York cops who advised us on real-life police scenarios which were then brought to life through the rich characters portrayed by the voiceover talent.”
True Crime: New York City is rated “M” for mature.
