Minnesota Timberwolves head coach, president of basketball operations and part-owner Flip Saunders died from cancer yesterday (October 25) at the age of 60, Sports Illustrated reports. Saunders coached in the NBA for 17 seasons and garnered 1,251 wins. He started his career with the Timberwolves in 1995 and took the team to the Western Conference Finals in 2004. After being fired from Minnesota, he spent three seasons each with the Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards. He came back to the Timberwolves last season. In his career, Saunders coached Kevin Garnett, John Wall and many other NBA All-Stars.

Vince Staples, 9th Wonder and Derek Minor took to social media to pay tribute to the NBA coach.

“Rest in Peace Flip ‘The Crip’ Saunders we out here for you my nigga,” Vince Staples writes on Twitter.

“Man…..rest well Coach Flip Saunders #FxckCancer,” 9th Wonder writes on Instagram under a picture of Saunders in a press conference.
