Few artists ever get to grace the cover a hip-hop magazine in their career, much less a general music magazine. How about one of the world’s leading financial reporters? In a career that just seems to be getting better and better, Shawn Carter has added another accomplishment to his jaw-dropping resume.
In a story dubbed America’s Hippest CEO,Jigga has landed a Fortune magazine cover. The story talks about both Shawn Carter the CEO and Jay-Z the retired rapper. Since apparently both are still very active; “Put Jay away, I need to talk to Shawn now,” his publicist was quoted as saying a number of times. There are even direct references made to Jay’s former job; dealing crack.
As they follow him from NYC to Vegas to Europe, Fortune constructs a fascinating piece about Mr. Carter. Unfortunately, like many non-hip-hop publications, the article has got some errors, such as claiming J-Hova is a new nickname. The October 17th issue will hit stores shortly.
