Every year, hip-hop has a new craze. Remember the Harlem Shake? Or how about Air Force Ones, and for you old school people… parachute pants? The time for the latest “in” thing is upon us once again. This is where Def Jam artist Young Jeezy takes center stage.
The Snowman shirt began as a promotional item and quickly became a must have for 05. A plain black shirt with a straight faced white snowman is the new mascot for the hustler’s dream.
“You gotta understand what it symbolizes,”Jeezy explains to MTV.com“It symbolizes a young hustler. If a cat goes and gets fresh, hits the club or goes to an event and he has a Snowman shirt on, it’s almost like a white tee. You can throw on a white tee and G your way through the party.”
While the Snowman represents flash and flare, it also represents the “have nots” of hip-hop.

”You might have a Snowman shirt on and it’s all good. Everybody can’t afford the Gucci and everything. It’s the next best thing, the Snowman.”
Much like other hip-hop must haves, there’s a little bit of Snowman in all of us, and if by chance there isn’t, we know someone who fits the profile.
“Snowman is a cool dude,” he says. “He’s a gangsta too. There’s a Snowman in every ‘hood, several Snowmen in the ‘hood. You gotta be that dude to look up to with the car and the girl. Whatever you do, be the best at it, because that’s what the Snowman is going to do.”
With a guest spot on Mariah Carey’s”Shake it Off” remix, the man who won ”Trapper of the year four times in a row” shows no signs of slowing down. He plans to shoot three more videos to support his Def Jam debut, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 and also has a label of his own to run.
