Mississippi’s native son, David Banner is adding another title to his already extensive resume: ”healer”. The rapper will join a host of artists for Saturday’s Heal the Hood Hurricane Relief Concert.

Banner will perform alongside many of hip-hop’s heavy weights including Nelly, TI, 8Ball and MJG and Chopper from MTV’s Making the Band. The event will take place at the Philips Arena in Atlanta and will be hosted by Lil Jon.

For the former Crooked Lettaz emcee, he felt a special obligation to give back to the victims of Katrina.

“It’s a blessing for me to do what I do, and I think God was telling me the more famous I am, the more I can do for the cause.”Banner told MTV.com . “If I lie there and mope and I don’t get out there and be vocal, I’m really a detriment. My people need to see me, and in a lot of ways, I’m their motivation.”
