A party in Baton Rouge, Louisiana that was supposed to be hosted by Boosie Badazz was cancelled by city government, according to The Advocate.

The Black & White Affair was scheduled to be today (July 18), but local lawmakers pulled the plug on the event, which has been an annual affair for more than 10 years.

T.J. Jackson, owner of Perfect 10 Productions, informed the public of the cancellation via Instagram on Wednesday (July 15).

“We were informed that the powers that be from City Government (including the Mayor) have CANCELLED our Black & White event scheduled at the River Center this Saturday. Our legal team is diligently working on this matter,” the post reads.

Jackson and his lawyer were unsure of the reasons for the cancellation. Jackson attended a meeting on Wednesday with venue personnel regarding security. That was when he was informed that the mayor’s office called the venue that day to cancel the event.

“They did mention that there are some concerns because of Boosie,” Jackson says of the meeting with the venue. “They said they think it might be a threat of danger of violence, and they don’t want that to split open to downtown.”

Jackson, a friend of Boosie and his family, says that this type of criticism is why the rapper doesn’t spend a lot of time in his hometown. Boosie now lives in Atlanta.

“He loves Baton Rouge dearly,” Jackson says, “but that’s why he moved from here, so he wouldn’t have to deal with this type of scrutiny and judgment.”
