Fans of Lil Jon and the East Side Boys can now throw their bows in slow motion. Crunk Juice, the trio’s fifth album, is set to get a makeover courtesy of Michael “5000” Watts. The Swisha House DJ is set to chop and screw their latest album.
For those unfamiliar with the Southern rap phenomenon, Screw music, was pioneered by the late DJ Screw, who gained fame and notoriety by slowing down popular hip hop and R&B tracks. The music was inspired by “syrup”, which is the use of codeine cough syrup, used to achieve a “slowed down” effect. To date, albums by TI, David Banner and Lil Wayne have all been chopped and screwed.
Crunk Juice debuted at number 3 on the Billboard top 200 charts, selling over 300,000 copies in its first week. The chopped and screwed version of the album will hit shelves August 9, backed by the third single, “Get Crunk” featuring Bo Hagon.
