Before Love & Hip Hop there was Joe Budden TV and the subsequent Tahiry TV.

The vlog-style episodes Joe and Tahiry produced pre-dated VH1’s reality series. Though the two would ultimately display their relationship woes on seasons three and four of Love & Hip Hop, one of Budden’s Slaughter House companions believes that Joe and Tahiry were the catalysts for Mona Scott’s idea.

During a recent interview with Blurred Culture, Kxng Crooked spoke about Budden being an inspiration for Love & Hip Hop.

“No matter if the cameras on or not, he’s very vocal about his relationships in his music,” Crooked says. “You’re going to always know what’s he’s going through with a woman through his music, so you might as well put the camera on. When he was doing Joe Budden TV him and Tahiry Before Love & Hip Hop he was filming his relationship up-close and personal and his fans loved it.”

Crooked goes on to say that Joe and Tahiry’s episodes were “very good” and drama-filled with “relationship spats.”

“That and For the Love of Ray J are the two things that gave birth to Love & Hip Hop,” he says.
