It’s official now. Hiphopdx.com’s Verbal Walker reported on this when it was mere speculation. A mistrial was declared Wednesday, July 6 in the wrongful death law suit against the Los Angeles Police Departmen, brought by the family Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious B.I.G.
A U.S. District Judge believed that the LAPD withheld a significant amount of evidence, which led to the declaration of a mistrial. In light of these new developments, the Wallace family is still free to re-file their case against the LAPD. Since the original filing, new theories have surfaced, including an LAPD cover up and the involvement of Death Row Records figurehead, Suge Knight. It is believed that if Knight was indeed involved, it is speculated that it may be in retaliation for the murder of Tupac Shakur.
The murder of the Notorious B.I.G. remains unsolved. In a press conference after the ruling, his mother, Voletta Wallace reiterated that the case against the LAPD was about honesty and not about “dollars and cents” which was speculated by Kevin Hackie, a crucial witness in the case.
