Logic (born Bobby Bryson Hall II) recently explained to VladTV how he came up with his Hip Hop moniker.
After spewing out a 40-second freestyle, Logic tells VladTV that before coming up with the name he currently uses, a mentor urged the young rapper to search through the dictionary for a word that meant something to him.
“My mentor, back when I was 18-years-old told me to to open up the dictionary and find a word that truly defines me and it was like 1 in the morning and I was in the attic –where I slept – and I came across psychological and I was the mad rapper, backpacker and I thought that was great because I love the mind and the complexity of the mind,” Logic says.
People around him began to use abbreviated forms of the word, psychological, calling the Gaithersburg, Maryland native “Psycho” before eventually settling for “Logic.”

Had it not been for his mentor, Logic says he was previously going by “Hitman, East Coast Killa, Lord Subliminal,” and at one point “Skittles.”
