Industry leading auction house Sotheby’s has tapped Drake to curate music for a new art exhibition in New York City.

According to the New York Times, Drake will select a soundtrack to accompany an exhibition of modern art by Black American artists at Sotheby’s New York City headquarters beginning next month. The showing, which begins on April 28 and will remain in place until June 12, includes more than a dozen pieces by artists like Nick Cave, Rashid Johnson, Kara Walker, Glenn Ligon, and even Jean-Michel Basquiat. Visitors and potential buyers will be able to hear Drake’s musical selections at listening stations scattered throughout the gallery.

The move is a part of Sotheby’s new venture into the growing market of direct sales, a setting that offers a more private experience for buyers than a public auction. The Times reports that the auction house’s partnership with Drake arose from a personal connection to the rapper in Sotheby’s art department. While the Toronto rapper won’t be paid for his contribution, Sotheby calls him one of the modern world’s “foremost cultural tastemakers” and hope that the collaboration helps drive sales.
