XXL has listed a handful of rappers who have received honorary degrees in a new article published to the site.
Nodding to emcees like J. Cole and Ice Cube who received degrees themselves in the introduction, XXL’s list kicks off with a mention of Pitbull’s honorary degree from Doral University in West Miami.
Pitbull received his degree in June of last year and promptly Tweeted a celebration photo of the occasion.
Also on the list is Diddy for the honorary degree he received from Howard University last May. Diddy attended the historically black university in Washington, D.C. for two years as a business major beginning in 1988 before leaving ahead of his own graduation date.

“Howard University didn’t just change my life —it entered my soul, my heart, my being and my spirit,” Diddy said at a speech during last year’s graduation. “Nobody is going to invite you to the front of the line, you got to push your way to the front of the line.”
Lower down the list, Chuck D is included for an honorary doctorate degree he received from Adelphi University in Nassau County in 2013. Unlike most of the other listed artists, Chuck D received a B.F.A. degree from Adelphi on his own merit while attending the school in the years between 1978 and 1984.
XXL’s list also includes Lil Wayne, LL Cool J, and Common. Read the full article here.
