Rapper Earl Hayes and his girlfriend Stephanie Moseley, a dancer who appeared on the VH1 show Hit The Floor, were pronounced dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Los Angeles early this morning (December 8).
A SWAT team responding to reports of gunshots in an apartment complex in L.A. were forced to knock down an apartment door where they found both Moseley and Hayes shot to death. TMZ reports that the shooting was possibly motivated by Hayes’ suspicions of Moseley’s infidelity with a celebrity singer.
A close friend of Hayes, Burrel Wilks, identified both bodies near the scene and told KTLA that the longtime couple was in the midst of a breakup.
In addition to her appearance on Hit The Floor, a VH1 reality series about NBA cheerleaders, Stephanie Moseley worked as a backup dancer for artists including Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Britney Spears, and Chris Brown. Hayes was previously signed to Floyd Mayweather’s record label and was friends with the boxer outside of music as well.

HipHopDX obtained a message from the building manager where the shooting took place and photos of the SWAT team on the scene.
“As the safety and security of our residents and our team members are our top priorities, we took the precaution of swiftly moving all residents who were in the vicinity to a location out of harm’s way,” the manager wrote. “The incident was isolated to one apartment and fortunately no other residents nor first responders were injured.”
Shortly after the news broke, several artists took to social media to offer their condolences. Chris Brown posted an image of himself alongside Moseley on Instagram.
