HipHopDX users were recently asked to rate the week’s top charting Hip Hop albums.
The Ranker list, which HipHopDX uses to assess reader responses below, calculates the votes based on a “thumbs up” and “thumbs down” system and it creates a list with the data users input. Ranker lists the albums from top to bottom, based on the total number of votes and regardless of how many thumbs up a particular album gets. The order of the albums featured on the lists fluctuates as votes are cast.
Common’s Nobody’s Smiling reigns supreme in this poll. The Chicagoan’s album earned 239 thumbs up and 42 thumbs down, placing it exactly 100 thumbs up above the next person on the list, PARTYNEXTDOOR. Despite Common’s successes here, some readers criticized Nobody’s Smiling’s record sales. An anonymous reader left the following comment: “Common, nobody’s smiling with those albums sales, yikes!” Another anonymous reader responded to a comment about Common not smiling, by saying, “sure he is. the music is just for fun and the love of it. he gets hollywood movie and tv show money now.”
Elsewhere on the list, PARTYNEXTDOOR’s PARTYNEXTDOOR TWO earned 139 thumbs up and 80 thumbs down. Trey Songz caught 104 thumbs up and 87 thumbs down for Trigga. Linkin Park’s The Hunting Party earned 60 thumbs up and 92 thumbs down while Iggy Azalea fell in last place with 50 thumbs up and 135 thumbs down for The New Classic.
