Now two weeks removed from Kendrick Lamar’sControl” verse (and most of its corresponding responses), this week’s Top 10 is helmed by Eminem’s new single, “Berzerk,” holding down the top two spots with its video and audio, respectively. With the release of Rockstar’s fifth installment of its flagship Grand Theft Auto series now just over two weeks away, we get a sneak peek with A$AP Rocky’s untitled tribute. Finally, and despite not being featured on Big Sean’s recently released Hall Of Fame, “Control” and another lyrical response from Joey Bada$$ retain a spot on our top 10.

Eminem’s “Berzerk” Opens Big

After releasing a short snippet of the song in a commercial during MTV’s VMA’s, Eminem’s “Berzerk” has fans quickly considering what The Marshall Mathers LP 2 might shape up to be. In his usually quick-witted demeanor, “Berzerk” finds the Detroit emcee rapping over a mostly minimalist Rick Rubin beat. Besides switching up his recent style with the Rubin collaboration, Em has also surprised fans with the announcement that the album will arrive in less than three months. In the song, he raps about his comeback with signature battle equipped bars: “So sick I’m looking pale, oh that’s my pigment / ‘Bout to go ham, ya bish, shout out to Kendrick / Let’s bring it back to that vintage Slim, bitch! / The art of emceeing mixed with da Vinci and MC Ren / And I don’t mean Stimpy’s friend, bitch.”

A$AP Rocky’s New Track Acts As A Teaser For The Upcoming GTA V Soundtrack

While the track remains untitled, A$AP Rocky’s addition to the latest installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise arrives just three weeks ahead of the video game’s release. The game, which set a new bar for the series and games in general with a newly three dimensional perspective in 2001 in its third installment, has also just had its first official trailer release after several previous teasers dating back nearly two years to the winter of 2011. A$AP’s track, which will no doubt be often heard by players navigating the “sandbox” world, shares a similarly militant vibe when he raps, “Niggas pistol popping like it’s 1999 / I was nine maybe 10, then again never mind / Press rewind / Back in time / Before rappers dropping dimes / Trap or die, choppin’ pies with cliche’s all in they rhymes.”

Joey Bada$$ Responds To Kendrick Lamar With “Killuminati Part 2”

After a couple weeks dominated by Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse and its responses, Brooklyn native Joey Bada$$ fires back with a later-than-the-rest response. Bada$$’s “Killuminati Part 2” is also a reminder of the now deceased Pro Era member Capital STEEZ’s first installment of the track. While the song is an obvious response to the Compton lyricist, Joey’s bars often dance around acute mentions though he eventually does make specific mention of the “Control” verse that started it all. He raps, “No escaping, you in a swimming pool of champagne / You set yourself up for that one mane / The King of New York? Ha! We ain’t just gon’ let that one hang,” in reference to both Lamar’s “Swimming Pools” single and his recently attack-laden “Control” verse.
