Usher’s first son from a previous marriage with stylist Tameka Foster, Usher Raymond V, was hospitalized in an ICU in Atlanta yesterday (August 5), according to a report by TMZ.
The 5-year-old was reportedly stuck in the pool’s drain after trying to retrieve a toy, according to the story. His aunt and then a maid were unable to free him immediately. Two contractors working at the house rushed to the boy’s aid and were able to get him out of the pool and perform CPR before taking him to the hospital.
Usher, who was not home according to the report, got home in time to ride in the ambulance with his son.
Doctors at the Atlanta hospital have confirmed that Usher Raymond V is recovering and is doing well. Both Usher and Foster were at the hospital today (August 6), according to TMZ.

The incident comes just over a year after Usher’s former stepson, 11-year-old Kile Glover, passed away due to injuries sustained in a water ski accident. The man responsible for Glover’s death pled not guilty to all of the related charge, which included reckless operation of a vessel, unlawful operation of a personal watercraft and serious injury by vessel.
Usher and Foster underwent a public child custody dispute following their 2009 divorce after little more than a year of marriage. The divorce directly preceded and likely influenced Usher’s sixth album, 2010’s Raymond v. Raymond.
Last August, a judge granted Usher full custody of both of the couple’s sons, Usher Raymond V and Naviyd, after his lawyers argued that Foster didn’t possess the “emotional stability” or “capacity” of “being a proper parent.” The decision came after a drawn out proceeding that included Foster admitting to saying “I will fuck you up” to the R&B singer and testimony that she physically assaulted one of Usher’s girlfriends. The trial also included Usher admitting that he slept with one of his wife’s bridesmaids following their wedding.
UPDATE: Yesterday (August 6), Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster filed an emergency motion in Fulton County, Georgia. Foster is requesting custody of their two children, according to a report by CNN. “[Usher] continues to excessively travel, utilizes third-party caregivers to supervise the minor children rather than personally exercising parenting time and providing supervision for the minor children,” Foster said in the motion. “[Usher is] not capable of providing daily caregiving and supervision for the minor children of the parties as petitioner is preparing to film a movie in Panama and has ongoing commitments that require his presence in Los Angeles, New York and various other cities for ‘The Voice’ and his upcoming album.”
