In the Roc-A-Fella Records days of The Diplomats, producers Kanye West and The Heatmakerz shared billing on albums such as Cam’ron’s Come Home With Me and Purple Haze, as well as Dipset’s Diplomatic Immunity.
Almost a decade later, Kanye West has evolved as global super-star artist, in addition to his production. The Heatmakerz’ Rsonist and Thrilla has produced for I-20 and Ludacris, in addition to Diplomats J.R. Writer and 40 Cal in recent years. Now MTV News has reported that West contacted Rsonist for the G.O.O.D Music head’s yet-to-be-titled sixth solo album.
“I got a record on Kanye’s new project that I guess he’s been working on for a minute now,” Rsonist revealed. “Kanye reached out to us because he wanted that old Heatmakerz sound.” The producer called the work “old school Soul music,” hinting that perhaps it may touch on the “Chipmunk Soul” sound both entities used in the early ’00s, along with Just Blaze and Ayatollah.
