The RIAA has announced the gold and platinum certifications from last month. In February of 2013, a current single three former hits reached new benchmark plateaus in sales.
A$AP Rocky’s Drake, 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar-assisted “Fuckin’ Problems” has been confirmed a platinum digital single. The Noah “40” Shebib co-produced song is the first of Rocky’s to reach the status. The single and video were released in late 2012, prior to A$AP’s 2013 retail debut, which has sold 284,000 units through last week.
Drake’s 2009, Boi-1da-produced single “Best I Ever Had” has been confirmed double-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The Cash Money/Universal Motown song was originally released on the Toronto, Ontario emcee/singer’s free project, So Far Gone. Released in February of that year, the mixtape was subsequently taken to retail as a packaged product, which later achieved gold status, selling over 500,000 units. The hit song became a popular video single, directed by Kanye West.
Also honored last month was Waka Flocka Flame’s 2010 single, “No Hands” which featured Wale and Roscoe Dash. The Brick Squad/Warner Bros. Records rapper’s early hit was confirmed triple platinum. The Drumma Boy-produced effort appeared on Waka’s debut, Flockaveli.
