Smif-n-Wessun co-founder General Steele has announced a post to serve as Music Supervisor for upcoming web series, For Colored Boys: REDEMPTION. The Brooklyn, New York native emcee will help merge the Stacey Muhammad written and directed online film with a soundtrack from his own Bucktown USA imprint.

The film stars fellow Duck Down Music label-mate Skyzoo, as well Steele’s rhyme-parter of 20-plus years, Tek. The film’s starring actors include Julito McCullum, Tim Reid and Rob Morgan. The dramatic episodic series features the tag-line: “Today there are more African Americans under correction control, in prison or jail, on probation or parole than were enslaved in 1850; a decade before the Civil War began.”

For Colored Boys: REDEMPTION is currently fundraising for production costs. Additional information is available at the film’s website.

In 2011, Smif-n-Wessun released Monumental, produced by Pete Rock.
