As fans gear up for Justin Timberlake’s long-awaited follow-up to 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds, The 20/20 Experience, more details are coming to light about the project. T.I. has revealed that he and Timberlake have collaborated for the project.
“Yeah, I spoke to JT. Me, him and [Timbaland] was on the phone,” said Tip in an interview with MTV News. “I did a record for them at the end of last year. They were working on a record together, and I had the pleasure of assisting them on their particular record,” he said.
Tip actually revealed the title of one of his collaborations with Timbaland and Timberlake. “I think it’s called ‘Goodbye Homey,’ one of them is, and then there is another one; I did maybe two or three records with them.”
The pair initially collaborated for one of FutureSex/LoveSounds‘ singles, “My Love,” and also for “Dead and Gone,” from T.I.’s Paper Trail album.

“It’s just great that he’s back into doing music. The record he has out with Jay right now is phenomenal,” he said, referring to “Suit & Tie,” Timberlake’s collaboration with Jay-Z. “It was definitely a sound that was missed.”
T.I. also delved into the meaning behind his song with Justin. “Well, ‘Goodbye Homey’ is really, it’s saying goodbye to something that is very special to you,” he said. “Not necessarily a person; it could be a time of your life, it could be an experience, it could be a relationship, it could be a friend that’s passed on. ‘Goodbye Homey,’ it has so many meanings and definitions. So when you hear it, you absorb it, and then whatever it means to you is what we intended.”
