Raekwon’s The Lex Diamond Story drops December 16. Track highlights: “All Over Again (The Way We Were)” follows in the tradition of “Can It Be All So Simple” with its tale of street survival. “Pit Bull Fights” is reminiscent of the ferocious lyrical beating inflicted on “Incarcerated Scarfaces.”
In addition to his album dropping soon, Raekwon has an entrepreneurial endeavor boiling called “Ice Water.” Ice Water Inc is his multipurpose business venture and partnership with Randy Spelling (son of TV mogul Aaron Spelling). The company is composed of music, movies, fashion, books and a four-man group named Ice Water, comprosed of Polite, Cigzra, Problem Child (PC) and Stumik.
To support his new song, “Crank It Up,” from his forthcoming album, MTA2: Baptized In Dirty Water, David Banner has announced he will offer fans a chance to win five $10,000 scholarships. Five game pieces will be randomly placed in the first 300,000 copies of his album, which hits stores December 23. The 5 recipients will receive $10,000 worth of scholarship monies that can be used toward any post-high school education including college, grad school, community college, trade or vocational school.
“I come from an under-privileged background in Jackson, Mississippi,” explains Banner. “I struggled to get my undergrad and then my Masters degree and now that I’ve made it, I am blessed with the ability to give back. I partially credit owning my own business and making it in the record industry as an entrepreneur, producer, and artist to having an education. I want to make it easier for others to continue theirs.”
