Over the years, some of the most striking images and works of artwork have been inspired by the sights and sounds of Hip Hop. Now, three of Hip Hop’s most iconic photographers – Martha Cooper, Joe Conzo, and Jamel Shabazz – have teamed up to celebrate such works with a new lifestyle brand DRKRM.

For the first time ever, the three photographers are now offering some of their most celebrated works on custom designed t-shirts via their DRKRM brand. The shirts feature images of Hip Hop and graffiti icons like DJ Charlie Chase, tagger Dondi White and more.

All shirts and more items from the three photographers are available through DRKRM’s wesbite.

The HHCF will begin its film screening tour this October 19 in San Jose, and will follow with additional dates on October 22 and 24 in Oakland and San Francisco, respectively. The final date will feature a special question and answer session with The Jacka and Big Rich.

“America is witnessing the beginnings of a cultural resurrection in chess. It is coming from the poor areas, where Hip-Hop thrives,” said HHCF founder Adisa Banjoko. “Brooklyn Castle illustrates beautifully how this ancient game can move our emotions as well as our intellect. The HHCF is honored to be screening Brooklyn Castle and grateful to The Jacka and the other artists, martial artists and educators participating with us at these screenings.”

Brooklyn Castle follows the story of five high school chess team members who went on to win numerous chess national chess tournaments despite their impoverished upbringing. More information on the film and screenings can be found at the HHCF’s blog.
