With Nicki Minaj and Cee Lo Green making waves in TV land, it looks like will.i.am is the next rapper to cash in on the small screen. This time, however, the Black Eyed Peas front-man is hoping to start his own show focusing on science and technology.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, will.i.am is looking to develop a talent show akin to “American Idol” that gives inventors, mathematicians, computer scientists and engineers a chance to parlay their creations into a competition. Although the program is still in its early development stages, will.i.am says that he’s been fine-tuning the idea with a number of broadcasting companies.
“Every year, companies like Google need more innovators, but there is no content celebrating them,” he said. “The system thinks people are dumb and they don’t care. We have no desire to make them care. We need creative people working with broadcasters, making smart content to inspire people to be geniuses. It will be great TV and great for society”
Recently, the Los Angeles producer/rapper teamed up with NASA to debut his song “Reach For the Stars” live from the Curiosity rover on Mars.
