Das EFX is back with their first album in five years, How We Do. “For us to be away for five years, we got shit on our album. We just needed to be heard and seen. We don’t care if we rhyme over a water faucet. We just needed to come out with an album.” Featuring Sean Paul on the hot track, “Memories” and production by Dame Grease, D.R. Period and more, Das can call their recent days of beggin’, borrowing, stealing and hustling a rap. They’re focusing on their independent endeavors.
“The independent way can really work for you,” explains Dre. “They’re not going to put up as much money as the majors. But the majors aren’t going to let you get a piece of the pie once they get it. After they pick the pie up off the table, what’s left on the table, you have to fight over that. With the independent, they’re willing to leave the pie on the table, split it up with you. That’s what we really want to try and do. Get out of it what we put into it. Not just the love, but pay me. We’re using the independent as a stepping stone. We want to go back to the majors maybe some day but we want to go back on our terms.”
