Despite many DX readers’ aversion to his music, there’s one thing can be said of Flo Rida: the man knows how to top charts. Sixteen weeks since its release, his song “Whistle” continues its streak – and that’s not his only single placed on the list. But Flo Rida’s not the only rapper flexing his muscles on the charts; a host of other emcees continue to pull five-figure downloads with multiple tracks, while dark horses like K’Naan and Outasight prove their worth with top 200 hits.
Flo Rida, Nicki Minaj Top Charts With Multiple Singles
Flo Rida’s single “Whistle” was ousted from its number one spot this week, only to drop to number two with over 200,000 digital sales. This isn’t the only single that the Florida pop rapper has on the charts, however; he’s also secured spots #44 and #102 with singles “Wild Ones” and “Good Feeling,” respectively. Nicki Minaj also proved prolific on the charts this week. Her single “Pound the Alarm” rose from #36 to #18 in its third week on the charts. She also snagged positions #62, #95 and #191 with songs “Starships,” “Beez in the Trap” and David Guetta’s “Turn Me On,” respectively.
50 Cent’s Single Plummets, Kendrick Lamar Enjoys Solid Week
Despite major fan appeal, 50 Cent’s latest single “New Day” featuring Dr. Dre and Alicia Keys had a rough week. In only its second week on the digital charts and a strong #26 debut, the G-Unit general’s latest single plummeted nearly 70 spots to #103. On the flipside, however, Fiddy’s Interscope labelmate Kendrick Lamar enjoyed a nice solid week with his song “Swimming Pools (Drank).” The track, which is slated for hisgood kid, m.A.A.d city debut, dipped 13 spots in its second week to a comfortable #70.
