After spending a good portion of 2011 working on side projects such as Zumbi and The Are Present: The Burnerz and Therapy At 3 by Eligh and Amp Live, Zion I will release their seventh album this fall. The Oakland-based duo will release Shadowboxing on October 2 via Live Up Records. On the upcoming album, Zion I has enlisted guests such as Bassnectar, Grouch and Eligh, Clyde Carson and Goapele.
“This is an album about metaphorical kicks and throws at oneself,” explained Zumbi via written statement. “Looking inward at the shadow self, and seeking awareness in the darkness of one’s own psyche.”
In conjunction with the Shadowboxing album, Zion and up and coming Santa Cruz Dubstep DJ Minnesota will set out on a 30-city Shadowboxing tour beginning October 4. The group has also partnered with 2Dopeboyz.com to bring fans exclusive up-to-date content from the tour.
