Choppa is no longer down with No Limit. Standing by Roy Jones, Jr.’s side at
The Source Awards last night, Choppa explained why he signed to Roy’s Body
Head Records. “P wasn’t cutting the mustard. I got to eat.” Roy also confirmed
that he will fight Mike Tyson. “I felt it coming for 10 years,” he said. His
Body Count Records boasts Choppa, Pensacola, FL. Rappers PG’z, Dot Com, L Boogie
and more. PG’z album will be out soon and Choppa is working on his second CD
now. Roy hopes to work with Mannie Fresh and Kanye West on upcoming tracks.
Choppa seemed very confident about the merger. “We’re two knock-out artists so we
had to come together.” Roy and his Body Head label recently returned from
Nairobi, Kenya where they did outreach about HIV/AIDS.

Three strikes for Ja Rule! He got boo’d last night on the red carpet, then
again when he rose to the stage for his performance of “Clap Back” and again
when he was announced as the winner of R&B/Rap Collabo of the Year for “Thug
Lovin’” with Bobby Brown. He didn’t step on stage to accept.

Ghostface had a lot to say about the state of hip-hop. First he told heads to
check for his new album, Pretty Tony out February 2004. He also explained why
he switched to Def Jam. “The Father led me that way. I dropped a lot of hits
on Sony but I didn’t sell. I had to get out of that position. Maybe I can move
some units over here.” Then the beef began: “There’s not too many jewels
being dropped these day. Everyone wants to shake their ass. I call the club the
devil’s box. Hip-hop is at an all-time low. It’s sad. It’s going nowhere but
down. We’re living out the last days, the last two pages of the bible. Brothers
don’t really know what’s going on. Babies with guns. Hip-hop is falling the
f*** off. But I got to feed my babies so I’m just going to try to make good
music. A wise man can play the part of a fool but a fool can’t play the part of a
wise man.” He also said Wu-Tang will reunite. “We’ll get together when they get
their shit together. I feel that in my heart.”

Da Band is filming a third season of “Making Da Band,” working on their 2nd
CD and creating a cartoon. White Chocolate, the winner of MTV’s “He Got Game”
told press he saved half of his winnings and splurged the other half on
luxuries like an Escalade on 22s. He is endorsed by Pass The Roc clothing and will
have his own line soon. He’ll also be signing a shoe deal in November and
putting together a street ball tour, “Coming To A Hood Near You.” Murphy Lee has a
chip coming out called Red Hot Ripleys (no pork, no MSG), and Nelly commented
on the negative press he’s been receiving about the name of his drink, Pimp
Juice. “We take wrongs and turn them into rights.”
