David Banner, Steve Rifkind’s SRC/Universal artist nabbed 3 Source Awards nominations this year for his debut: “Breakthrough Artist of the Year,” “Single of the Year–Collabo (Like A Pimp),” and “”Live Performer of the Year.” Though appreciative, Banner voices his opinion about a potential victory. “My daddy taught me it’s cool to be nominated, but I only care if I win. I’m happy. But people only care about the winners. If I do win, one of the things I always wanted to say to black people is now we are in a position to free black people. There’s no excuse. We got the Suges, Puffs, Cash Money, David Banners. We can sign arists and shield them from the big cats and let them be free and do the music they want to do.” Banner has a chopped and screwed version of his debut along with a DVD and clothing line coming soon.
